December 2020 -- Earlier this year, we decided to move forward with another round of funding through the Center’s 2020 Small Grants Program. We are pleased to announce that we have selected three grantees that are working on important CJS initiatives to advance health equity. However, the response to the CFP has left us wondering if our definition of cross-jurisdictional sharing is too narrow for the current times.
June 2020 -- As COVID-19 cases spike in many communities, public health departments are under tremendous pressure to respond with increased testing and contact tracing. Because many health departments do not have the resources to do this work on their own, some have turned to cross-jurisdictional sharing (CJS) to increase capacity. At a time like this, we offer the following thoughts on quickly planning and implementing CJS arrangements for expanded COVID-19 response operations.
May 2020 -- At the Center for Sharing Public Health Services, we have long recognized the power of storytelling. One way we disseminate learnings is by sharing stories from our grantees and other public health professionals who have worked on cross-jurisdictional sharing (CJS) initiatives. Recently, we published several stories on the CJS in Action page of our website.
April 2020 -- In our Director’s Message today, we introduced you to Dr. Samuel Crumbine, a pioneer in public health. Today, we’d like to talk about a modern-day public health pioneer, Pat Libbey, who served as co-director of the Center from 2012-2018. As we announced in January 2019, Pat decided to begin a long, winding road toward retirement. We are happy to announce that he has finally made it (well, almost) to that destination. Learn more.
April 2020 -- Today, as we face an extraordinary and unprecedented effort to slow the transmission of COVID-19, public health experts around the world are again on the front lines of a new war. This effort is impacting our daily work in multiple ways and it pulls us away from other important initiatives so that we can focus on this more pressing issue. March 2020 -- The Center for Sharing Public Health Services understands that the COVID-19 pandemic is having myriad impacts on our partners, including state and local health departments and other organizations involved in response efforts. Given the current situation, the Center has made the following modifications to its current and planned activities.
February 2020 -- Cross-sector collaborative efforts often are temporary in nature, due to challenges with funding, structure and incentives. What can be done to make collaborations such as these more permanent? In his latest Director's Message, Gianfranco Pezzino explores this issue and explains why the 10 grantees selected for the new Cross-Sector Innovation Initiative (CSII) will focus on system alignment while working toward their goals to improve population health, well-being and equity for all.
