Call for Proposals: 2020 Small Grants Program

July 2020 – The Center for Sharing Public Health Services is offering small grants to support work on cross-jurisdictional sharing CJS arrangements designed to advance health equity by addressing social determinants of health (e.g., affordable housing, jobs with fair pay, quality education, affordable healthy food and public safety), the public health response to COVID-19, structural racism or other related issues. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM CDT on September 11, 2020. Up to 5 awards will be made for an amount of up to $10,000 for a project period of up to eight months. Shorter projects will be considered. All projects must be concluded by June 11, 2021.

June 2020 — As COVID-19 cases spike in many communities, public health departments are under tremendous pressure to respond with increased testing and contact tracing. Because many health departments do not have the resources to do this work on their own, some have turned to cross-jurisdictional sharing (CJS) to increase capacity. At a time like this, we offer the following thoughts on quickly planning and implementing CJS arrangements for expanded COVID-19 response operations.

April 2020 — In our Director’s Message today, we introduced you to Dr. Samuel Crumbine, a pioneer in public health. Today, we’d like to talk about a modern-day public health pioneer, Pat Libbey, who served as co-director of the Center from 2012-2018. As we announced in January 2019, Pat decided to begin a long, winding road toward retirement. We are happy to announce that he has finally made it (well, almost) to that destination. Learn more.

February 2020 — The Center for Sharing Public Health Services and the Public Health National Center for Innovations (PHNCI), with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), are co-leading the Cross-Sector Innovation Initiative (CSII). The CSII is a three-year endeavor to identify and support public health, healthcare and social services organizations striving to build stronger, sustainable connections to better meet the goals and needs of the people they serve and ultimately improve health equity.
